See what our members are working on

Of course, one of the core purposes of the EAA is to help people build aircraft, and we have quite a few projects underway in the chapter. Here is a partial listing of some of Valkaria's homebuilts, LSA, ultralights, and various other flying machines that weren't born in an airplane factory:

STATUS NOTES
Norm Allen GlaStar 2007-11-08 FLYING The GlaStar is flying regularly.
Norm Allen RANS S-6 2009-07-01 FLYING Norm has been flying his LSA RANS around... looks like a ton of fun!
Valkaria Bob B-12 Peacemaker
(1/3 scale replica of B-36 bomber)
6 x Pratt&Whitney R-2800
+ 4 Solar Turbines
2010-01-12 BUILDING VB has been taxi-testing. Sadly, the plane is too large for the current taxiways and must back-taxi on the runway, and the propwash from the first run-up blew seventeen planes from their tie-downs (most of them were eventually found in Osceola county). Bob figures that only four more mortgages on his house should be sufficient to pay for the fuel for the first 10 hours of test flying.
Matthew Borowski Pedal P-51 Mustang
Flintstone Propulsion Unit
2009-03-12 FLYING Matthew took his checkride and now has his SP (Sport Pedaler) certificate.
Steve Borowski Kolb Kolbra
Rotax 912
2007-11-25 FLYING Steve's Kolb is flying again and has transitioned to an E-LSA. Matthew likes to help dad out around the hangar!
Steve Borowski CGS Hawk UL
Rotax 503
2007-11-25 BUILDING Steve's Hawk is a restoration project at this point, it was crunched by the previous owner in a bad landing.
Steve Bowman Moni Motorglider 2007-12-03 FLYING Steve's little motorglider is a nice, lightweight plane that can actually thermal.
Steve Bowman Pazmani PL-4 2007-12-03 FLYING Many folks have mistaken Steve's Paz for some kind of factory-built airplane.
John Carpenter Zenith Zodiac CH-601 HDS
Subaru EA-81
2010-01-11 MAINTENANCE *** FOR SALE!!! ***
John's plane has a new engine (due to a precautionary landing due to overheating) and a new prop (unrelated to the new engine), and should be back in the air soon. John enjoys the plane and it's not affected by the much-talked about ADs... it's only for sale because John has the itch to move to a high-wing design.
Jim Daron Pietenpol Air Camper
Continental O-200
2007-11-08 FLYING Jim's Air Camper has been flying with no major issues. It features a few mods including a side door for the front cockpit and a retractable step for the rear pit.
Walter Eisenmann Sonex 2010-01-11 FLYING Walt has been regularly flying his scratch-built Sonex with his own VW engine conversion.
Francis Herr Van's RV-9 2007-11-08 BUILDING Working on the fuselage.
Walt Hewett and
Joe Blaha
Van's RV-10 2007-11-08 BUILDING Walt and Joe are currently working on the fuselage.
Travis Holland Velocity 2007-11-08 BUILDING Working on the wings.
Pete Mickos Fly Baby Bipe 2007-12-03 FLYING This unusual iteration of the famous Fly Baby is a neat little biplane!
Tim Miller Legal Eagle 2007-11-08 BUILDING Tim is in the early stages of this project.
Don Nelson Mitchell Wing 2007-11-25 BUILDING The Mitchell Wing is being restored to flying status. It's currently waiting to be covered.
Herschel Walls Van's RV-10 2007-11-08 BUILDING Working on the fuselage.
Linn Walters Van's RV-10 2007-12-03 BUILDING Linn is working on his RV-10.
Linn Walters Pitts S1-S
O-360
2007-11-08 MAINTENANCE Linn's Pitts is being worked on. As usual :)
Mike Whaley OV-10 Bronco
(Scaled, LSA-legal replica)
1x Corvair
2007-12-03 DESIGN STAGE Still in the conceptual stage, but the basic requirements and trial structural layouts completed. Features: Legal LSA, reduced scale, accurate scale outlines as far as possible, 2-seat, single pusher Corvair engine, easy to build, forgiving flight characteristics, (probably) non-aerobatic, low-cost, ballistic chute, eye catching!
Mike Whaley Pietenpol Air Camper
Corvair
2007-11-08 BUILDING Mike went to Brodhead and bought a set of really nice CNC aluminum tail hinges... therefore, the project is finally, officially started!

There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, but there are no old, bold pilots.
