EAA Chapter 1288
Monthly Pancake Breakfasts

One of the traditional activities at which local EAA chapters are often involved is the Pancake Breakfast, and Chapter 1288 is no exception. EAA 1288 and the Valkaria Aviation Association (VAA) jointly host a Pancake Breakfast every third Saturday of the month from 8:00 am until 11:30 am at the Valkaria Airport pavilion. Breakfast is a $3.00 donation and usually consists of pancakes, sausage, coffee, and orange juice. This family-friendly event is a fun, socially-oriented event... a chance to catch up on the latest and meet interesting people from all over. Many locals drive in, and many pilots fly in from around the state (and often from even farther away).

Of course, you don't have to be a pilot to join in the fun! Quite a few non-pilots enjoy spending a lazy Saturday morning with us, just hanging out and seeing friends old and new and watching a parade of interesting airplanes come and go. Young people are encouraged to come, and it's a great opportunity to introduce kids to aviation in an up-close-and-personal setting.

On other Saturday mornings, pilots based at Valkaria often fly out to other Pancake Breakfasts around the state... Dunn Air Park (Titusville), Winter Haven, Westgate River Ranch, and Okeechobee are popular destinations.

But along with me this twilight, farmboys were looking up at those contrails straight and high in the sky and their hearts were filled, touched with yet undefined dreams of all the possibilities the future holds.
(Gordon Baxter, Bax Seat, 1/97)
